“In The Lonely Hour”’s production isn’t one track driven. He incorporates his harmonies and melodies in a fashion that opens a window into his rock influence. Besides that fact that he tends to find comfort in dwelling in his falsetto, which can become overwhelmingly dull due to its excessive use like on “Life Support,” it’s damn near perfect. Sam Smith’s voice is nothing less than uncommon. And as the tracks progress, he’s analyzing his dilemma by verse two, and towards the end he’s found the problem’s solution. Whether it is financially, intimately or mentally, a problem is always present. “There’s a method to my madness…” Sam is keen in his pen skills and his method is madness. 22-year-old UK singer/songwriter Sam Smith is full of soul and heartache, disguised in the form of love with his album debut “In The Lonely Hour.” Although he’s managed to continue to grow his audience organically, this album demonstrates a more personal approach, showcasing his flawless ability to deliver breathtaking vocals and a uniquely raw style - prepare to be surprised.
